I will definitely need stitches in this finger, it’s bleeding a lot. With the shoulder, it might be something to do with a previous injury, it’s sat backwards so I’m not sure if I’ve done something to the ligament. I’m not a doctor but from the feelings I’m not optimistic.”

Însă și el vrea să discute cu Sagan: „I get on with Peter well but I don’t get it… if he came across it’s one thing, but the elbow… I’m not a fan of him putting his elbow in like that. I get on with Peter, a crash is a crash, but I’d just like to know about the elbow”.

Vinovatul a spus că: „Mark was coming pretty fast from the back. I didn’t have time to react and go left and he just came to me and after into the fence.”

He was quite pissed by the attitude of Sagan, making some moves which he shouldn’t make. Yesterday it was the same thing in the intermediate sprint, he gave an elbow to André and he was a little bit pissed yesterday already. Twice in a row is too much. Greipel was saying, ‘He isn’t my friend anymore from now on.’ That was 20 metres past the finish line.”

„We’ve decided to disqualify Peter Sagan from the Tour de France 2017 after the tumultuous sprint, here in Vittel. He endangered multiple riders, Mark Cavendish and others who were implicated in the crash, in the final meters of the sprint.

We applied article 12.104, irregular sprints, in which case commissaires are allowed to enforce a judgement to disqualify a rider and amend a fine.”

Deocamdată nu se știe nici dacă rutierul de la Trek Segafredo, John Degenkolb, va putea continua: „Before the big crash from Cavendish there was one crash before and that’s why I was a little in the back. I was just coming back to the front of the lead group for the sprint, and Cav was in front of me, and I couldn’t avoid him by jumping over him.  I went fully over the handlebars, and I had a pretty bad crash. In the end, luckily, there is nothing broken, no fractures. But still I have a very painful right shoulder, and we will see how it goes tomorrow if I can be on the bike. I will give everything and hope to continue, of course.”

Ben Swift speră să continue cursa, judecând după mesajele twitter: „After a tougher day then expected yesterday. Hoping there will be some tired bodies today. Should be another big sprint in Vittel” – înainte de etapă; după etapă – „Thanks for all the messages about how I am. I am happy to report that I think I got away with that one relatively un hurt.” El a detaliat în Ride Magazine South Africa: „I heard the crash but with no where to go, I went left but so did Cav’s bike. It’s a horrible feeling knowing your going down. I don’t think I have ever crashed like I did today. It catapulted me in the air what felt like 10ft. Fortunately, my momentum meant I did a full somersault, taking the full impact on my back. All I could think of whilst I was sliding for what felt like a 100meters. Was brace yourself for the others. Luckily there were no other heavyweight sprinters about to land on me. I could catch my breath, hope that I was ok and ride to the finish.”
