Nu, nu este o glumă proastă, nici spiritism, dar e sigur că Freddie Mercury va cânta pe noul album al formației Queen, a dezvăluit pentru Rolling Stone chitaristul Brian May.
Acesta a spus că albumul are momentan titlul Queen Forever și va fi o compilație. Este prevăzut să apară la finele acestui an.
Care-i bijbaul cu regretatul și legendarul Freddie? Băieții au descoperit niște înregistrări din glorioșii ani ‘80, când Freddie ridica Wembleyul în picioare cu „We Will Rock You”, care vor fi incluse pe noua compilație. Potrivit lui May, minitehnicusul formației: „I’ve just been doing something very similar because we found a few more tracks with Freddie singing and all of us playing and they’re quite beautiful. People will be hearing this work toward the end of the year.
It’s the big, big epic sound. It wouldn’t have been if we hadn’t have done this restoration job. We only had scraps, but knowing how it would’ve happened had we finished it, I can sit there and make it happen with modern technology.”
Între timp, ca să nu se plictisească, „pensionarii” pregătesc un turneu american care va include 19 orașe și va debuta în 19 iunie, în Chicago. May spune că: „This is the closest that you’ll ever get to see Queen as it was in our golden days, but it’s not a reproduction. It’s not an imitation. We’re here live and real and we have a great singer. They’ll be a lot of newness about this. I think that’s very exciting. It’ll be loud and dangerous and all the things that people used to look for in us.”
Ce n-au reușit să afle securitățile din întreaga lume, au aflat cei de la Rolling Stone: se lucrează și la continuarea musicalului We Will Rock You, în mare secret. Motiv pentru care nici May n-a spus prea multe: „We are working on a sequel, yes. In fact, we’ve already very secretly and quietly workshopped, which means you stand it up and get people to sing it and act it.
Everybody loved it, so we’re looking for a theatre and we hope to have a sequel out there at some point. More than this, I cannot say. It’s a little naughtier than the first one.”
La realizarea continuării lucrează și autorul primului spectacol, Ben Elton.
La rugămintea redactorului Jason Newman, May a dat și numele cântecului favorit din repertoriul Queen: Made in Heaven, cu precizarea că acesta este favoritul acum, fiindcă din timp în timp își schimbă preferința.
